Our Purpose: To prepare students to be active participants who will contribute to their community.

Tēnā koutou katoa, Talofa lava

As another busy week at OIS draws to an end, it is hard to believe we are two weeks away from the middle of the school year and the end of Term 2. I want to remind our students that we continue to work hard and embrace our IDEAL values to ensure that our students finish their term on a positive note.

On Tuesday night, our choir performed at the North Otago Music Festival in the Oamaru Opera House. We are incredibly proud of how our students performed and conducted themselves. A huge thank you to Anneke Catto and the team who supported our students and their performance. A special mention to Paea Veituna, one of our House Captains, who conducted our Choir. What an amazing job she did.

OIS have chosen to celebrate Matariki on Thursday, 26 June (the following week). Our kura would love to see you join us for breakfast from 8.00 am - 8.30 am in the hall. This is a wonderful opportunity for the school community to come together and celebrate Matariki, reflect on the year, and share some kai. Follow this link to let us know if you are coming.

Next Thursday, 19 June, we will be hosting Tahuna Intermediate for our annual interschool exchange. This is an exciting opportunity for our students. Thank you to all our coaches and managers; without your support, we would not be able to have this event. A special thank you to our Sports Coordinator, Sharon Wilson, we are grateful for all your mahi to ensure this exchange is successful.

I want to finish today’s newsletter with a heartfelt thank you to all of you who have supported our ‘bring a can’ this week. I know that times are very tough for many at the moment, but what I love about being in this community is that everyone is always willing to help and support others. We are extremely humbled, and we thank you for your kindness and support.

Have a safe weekend

Rebecca Meek
