Our Purpose: To prepare students to be active participants who will contribute to their community.
Tēnā koutou katoa, Talofa lava
We have reached the halfway point of our year, and on the back of Matariki, it is a perfect time to reflect on what makes Oamaru Intermediate special: our Tamariki. Their infectious energy, enthusiasm, genuine smiles, resilience, and sense of fun are truly what make OIS a special place.
I'm incredibly thankful for our whānau this term. Your ongoing support is valuable, especially your dedication to coaching and managing our sports teams, which allows so many of our students to get involved and really shine. Your commitment to making sure your child arrives at school each day ready to learn, with everything they need, sets a really strong foundation for their success. Thank you to everyone who was able to come and have breakfast with us yesterday at our Matariki celebration.
Our PTA deserves a huge shout-out for all their hard work. These wonderful people are truly exceptional, and their recent fundraising success, raising nearly $10,000, just shows how dedicated they are. This significant contribution will directly benefit our tamariki, making their learning experiences even better and providing valuable resources.
A big thank you goes out to the Board of Trustees. Ben, Presiding Member, and his team work so hard behind the scenes, often in ways we don't always see, to ensure the very best for our kids. Their strategic guidance and unwavering commitment are crucial to the ongoing success and well-being of Oamaru Intermediate.
To all the staff at OIS, my appreciation is endless. You consistently blow me away with your dedication, professionalism, and genuine care for our students. You are true role models, living our IDEAL values in everything you do, and working tirelessly to help each student reach their full potential. Your collective efforts create such a supportive and vibrant learning environment. To Mr Matt Brien, who is heading away on his overseas adventure for a term, we wish you all the best and look forward to your safe arrival back in Term 4.
I'm also grateful for our well-kept facilities and the stimulating environment we're lucky enough to use every day. These spaces provide the perfect backdrop for effective teaching and learning, encouraging creativity and collaboration. Mr McKay and the team do an exceptional job at keeping our facilities looking top-notch.
Finally, I'm just so grateful to be the Tumuaki of Oamaru Intermediate. It's truly an honour and a privilege to lead such a lively and supportive community, and to contribute to the growth and development of our future generations.
He aha te mea nui o te ao
What is the most important thing in the world?
He tangata, he tangata, he tangata
It is the people, it is the people, it is the people
As the term draws to a close, I would like to wish everyone a very safe and refreshing holiday.
