Principal's Message...

It has been a genuinely positive and busy week! My sincere thanks go to our entire staff and wonderful whānau community for their continued support. A big shout-out to our excellent runners who represented OIS so well at the Carline Bay relay event on Tuesday. A huge thank you to Sharon, our sports coordinator, for her support at this event.

Preparing Our Year 8s for High School

This week, our Year 8 students successfully completed a comprehensive Transition Simulation Week. This programme gave them a taste of high school life, following a high school timetable and moving between various subjects and environments. The feedback has been fantastic, and the students gained invaluable experience. A huge thank you to Hannah, Vic, and the entire Year 8 team for their exceptional organisation and unwavering support of this essential programme.

We were also delighted to host our incoming 2026 Year 7 students for their orientation sessions. We are incredibly excited about them joining us next year! A special acknowledgement goes to our Prospective 2026 Year 8 Leaders, who were outstanding ambassadors and role models throughout the week.

With another very hot week, please ensure your child continues to be prepared for the heat. Thank you to all parents and caregivers who have made sure their children have a hat for school. Please also remind your children to drink plenty of water throughout the day.

If you are considering buying a gift for your child's teacher, we kindly ask that this year, you instead place a donation under the town Christmas tree. While we appreciate the kind thought of a gift, a card with a handwritten message remains the most meaningful way to thank your teacher. If you can’t get down to the christmas tree, we can take it there for you.

A friendly reminder regarding student safety while biking to and from school. Please talk with your child about the route that they take to school and about following the road rules, particularly not riding on footpaths and riding in big groups.

Have a great weekend.
