Waitaki District Council is excited to be hosting the Friendly Bay Family Fun Day on Saturday 7 March.

This is a free, old-fashioned family fun day designed to bring our community together in a safe, inclusive and positive environment. The day will focus on:

  •  Community connection

  • Wellbeing and outdoor play

  • Sustainability and pride of place

  • Creating fun memories for tamariki and their whānau

It aligns strongly with our shared values around community, participation and caring for our environment – very much in the spirit of The Waitaki Way.

National Lamb Day Celebrations - Next Sunday 15th February we are holding our annual National Lamb Day Celebrations here at Totara Estate. We had a whopping celebration last year with over 250 people through the door, and we’re looking forward to kicking things up a notch this year.

Thanks to our generous sponsors, we have been able to reduce our adult admission price for this event:

  • Adults $5

  • Heritage NZ Members FREE

  • Children (under 18) FREE

On top of the reduced entry price, the first 300 admissions through the door will receive a complimentary lamb chop off the BBQ.

There will be cold & hot drinks available to purchase, ice creams and sweet treats, as well as burgers from local boutique food cart That Food Guy.

We have a range of heritage agricultural demonstrations throughout the day, including blade shearing, dog trials, dry stone wall building and blacksmithing. There will also be wool spinning demonstrations, with an opportunity to have-a-go. We’ll have classic lawn games for both children & adults to play, from tug-o-war to sack races to hobby horses.

We’re running a Fred Dagg Look-alike Competition on the day, with 2x Pure South Meat Pack Gift Cards available to win. More info on this competition is available here.
