Athletics Otago is excited to share a great opportunity for our 12–18-year-olds to have a go at athletics. It would be great to see your school students come along! The event is open to those already involved in athletics along with those wanting to give it a try.

Join us for a high-energy, fun-filled morning of athletics designed just for rangatahi aged 12–18!
Date: Sunday, November 23rd, 2025
Time: 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM (Concludes with a free BBQ alongside Q & A with senior Otago athletes)
Location: Caledonian Ground, Dunedin
Cost: FREE to register!
Bonus: All participants receive a team t-shirt to wear on the day!
Why Launch Athletics?
Launch Athletics is all about fun, connection, and giving it a go—no pressure, just good vibes and great people. Whether you're already into athletics or just curious, this is your chance to try something new in a welcoming, team-based environment.
What’s Happening?
Modified Track & Field Events: 60m, 150m, 300m, 1000m, Medley Relay, High Jump, Shot Put, Long Jump, Discus
Fun Challenges: Gumboot Throw, Vertical Jump, Tug of War
Team Spirit: Music, chants, and challenges all morning long
Mentorship: Be guided by Otago’s top senior athletes (including para-athletes!). Each team will have 2 captains who will be Otago senior representatives.
Inclusive Teams: Mixed-age, mixed-ability teams where everyone contributes
Post-Event BBQ: Celebrate with your whānau and teammates over kai with a Q&A Session from our elite and community athletes

Waitaki Night n Day Rainbow Run – Saturday 8 November 2025
The Waitaki Night n Day Rainbow Run is back! Join us on Saturday 8 November at the Oamaru Racecourse for a colourful, fun-filled whānau day out. Tickets are now on sale (link is on our social media pages or people can scan the Q R code on the poster). All the money raised on the day goes towards Sport Otago's Sporting Chance, which help cover sports fees or shoes for tamariki and rangatahi whose whanau are in financial need.

Smash Play is a fun, social, and easy way to get into cricket while building key skills — no experience needed!
