Principal's Message...

A huge congratulations to all our students who took part in Monday's North Otago Sports. It was fantastic to see so many of our students involved! We also want to wish the best of luck to those students representing OIS in Dunedin on Tuesday at the Otago Athletics. We are confident you will make our school proud.

At OIS, we pride ourselves on offering a wide range of opportunities for our students—it's a key point of difference for us. Information about these opportunities is shared through our school notice system, so it is vital that students listen to the notices and follow the instructions given.

Our school Facebook page is the central place for all sports draws, and students are aware of their team placements. Please support us by ensuring your child arrives at their games on time. If, for any reason, your child cannot attend a game, please communicate this directly with their coach.

On Monday, we welcome Jake Stow to the team. Jake will be working in the Materials room. We are looking forward to having him on our team.

As another week draws to a close, I want to express my sincere gratitude for the dedication of our staff. While the education sector faces many changes, the unwavering support and commitment our team provides remain constant, ensuring every child receives an enriched curriculum and ample opportunity.

Many staff members generously volunteer their personal time to run sports like touch, volleyball, and cricket. They receive no extra compensation for this; they do it purely because they understand the value of team participation for our students. Furthermore, our staff also volunteer to organise fundraisers, such as raffles and lotto ticket sales, to help all our students attend camp. To these unsung heroes, thank you for the extra effort and dedication you put into supporting our entire school community.

Library Book Returns
As we approach the end of the year, it’s time to stock and organise our library. Please take a moment to check your child’s room for any school library books or resources. Returning these ensures we can prepare for the year ahead. Simply send any books or resources back to school with your child as soon as possible.

Have a great weekend
