Principal's message...

Tēnā koutou katoa, Malo e lelei, Talofa lava, Bula vinaka

As the two-week holiday approaches, I am certainly looking forward to a well-deserved break after a busy term. Both inside and outside the classroom, it has been a term filled with opportunities and events, including a fantastic production, Open Nights and Days, Kapa Haka, and vibrant Pasifika performances, all beautifully showcasing the talent and rich culture within our school. Our inter-school sports teams also demonstrated their ability, challenging both our Tahuna and James Hargest exchange competitors to an exciting exchange. We are certainly showing that we can compete against anyone across a number of codes.

Today, many of our students wore mufti in support of the Child Cancer Society. While many schools in our region supported the Cancer Society last week, our Student Council chose to focus on the Child Cancer Support Network. For me, these days hit harder than they used to, with the statistic of one in three people being affected by cancer impacting someone I love. This journey, though one I would prefer not to be on, is the path my family has had to navigate for now. It has served as a powerful reminder that we all face difficult times in our lives, and on those challenging days, it is the people around us who often get us through. It's those friendly faces, a listening ear, or even just a silly joke that can make all the difference when you're feeling down.

The Child Cancer Society, along with other organisations like Cancer Society, offers far more than just services and resources; it provides strength and comfort to families, parents, and children impacted by childhood cancer, often during the most trying moments. Often a lifeline, helping families navigate everything from medical appointments to emotional support. Therefore, I extend my heartfelt thanks to all of you for your support today; our collective contribution truly makes a difference. It also serves as a poignant reminder to never take those around us for granted. Let's really commit to showing up for each other, telling people they matter, being present, and being kind. You never know when a small act of kindness might be exactly what someone needs to get through their tough day.

He aha te mea nui o te ao?

He tāngata, he tāngata, he tāngata

What is the most important thing in the world?

It is people, it is people, it is people.
