Science Programme - Dissections

By Ryan Clark | Posted: Tuesday April 28, 2026

Attention: Parents/Whanau - Our Monday Science programme is centred on practical, hands-on science investigations and experiments.

With classes across the school learning about the human body later this term, our Monday sessions will take a similar focus. Students will undertake lessons that explore different bodily systems, such as the nervous system and sensory systems. As part of this, students will undertake a sheep pluck dissection to learn about the respiratory system and the key anatomical features of the lungs and heart.

Because dissections are not within everyone's comfort zone, students can watch or undertake alternative learning activities if they are not comfortable or are unable to participate.

If you have any questions about the dissection or the science program, please contact Ryan Clark, ryanc@oamaruint.school.nz
