Enrolment at Oamaru Intermediate School

ENROLMENT FORMS
If your child attends Fenwick, Pembroke or Oamaru North these forms will come home and should be completed and returned to your child’s present school before the end of term 3.

If your child attends any other school please return the enrolment forms directly to Oamaru Intermediate School office as soon as possible (preferably before 24th September) or post to:

Oamaru Intermediate School
Pembroke Street
Oamaru 9400

If you wish to have these forms posted to you please e-mail the school office. Early completion and return of forms is essential in helping us determine staffing needs and placement of students for 2011.

ORIENTATION DAY VISIT
This year the Orientation Visit in Term 4 will encompass a morning at Oamaru Intermediate School, commencing with a welcome in the school hall at 9am and a conducted tour of the school by present pupils.  Your child will also have the opportunity to be involved in our Technology Department. A warm invitation is extended to parents to be present for all or part of the Orientation Day visit.

Tentative dates for these are:

Pembroke School and Oamaru North School – Friday 19 November

Fenwick School and students from other schools – Friday 26 November

SCHOOL COSTS/PAYMENTS
The General Purpose Donation for 2010 will be $40.00 for one child or $60.00 where more than one child attends Oamaru Intermediate School.  This levy contributes towards the cost of additional sports gear, library materials, photocopying, printing, swimming tuition and the provision of many items not able to be fully funded by the Ministry of Education Operational Grant.

The Technology Fee is set at $25.00 per child and subsidises the consumable take home materials used in this department. This amount does not include separate charges for Food, Fabric or Electronics. Oamaru Intermediate School children spend an average of 2 hours per week at technology classes. Parents will be invoiced for the approved fees early in 2011. All year 7/8 students whether at OIS or country schools are required to pay this fee.

STATIONERY
Oamaru Intermediate does not have a Stationery Shop.  Oamaru Paper Plus will carry all required stationery items needed and will supply at ‘Back to School’ prices.  A full stationery list is provided in Term 4, or can be picked up from our school office.  Pupils are expected to bring the required stationery to school on their first day.

BUS TRANSPORT
Pupils who travel to Intermediate from the South Hill have the option of travelling by bus.  A fee set by the bus company applies.  A strict behaviour code is in place for all bus users.  Pupils not wishing to adhere to this code are invited to travel to school using another means of transport.

For pupils living in outlying country areas, there are options available for travelling on the High School buses. Costs are set by the bus contractor and arrangements for pick up etc are made directly with the appropriate bus company. Please contact the school office if you require further information.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Oamaru Intermediate is a signatory to the International Student Code of Practice and therefore is authorised to enrol International fee paying students. These students bring a new dimension to our classrooms and add to the cultural diversity of our school.

These students stay in Boarding Hostels or with families. If you are interested in finding out about offering a home stay opportunity for international fee paying students please contact the school office.
