From the Board of Trustees Chairperson

Oamaru Intermediate School is committed to meeting the unique challenges and needs of today's youth who will become tomorrow's leaders. To this end we provide numerous opportunities for our students to engage with and excel in academic, sporting, cultural and leadership activities.

Our school's high profile and reputation for excellence attracts enrolments from as far south as Palmerston to Waimate in the north, and inland to Kurow.

On any given day you will find students being encouraged to learn to the best of their abilities, to step out of their comfort zones and take risks and be exposed to many new experiences.  The atmosphere at our school is positive and welcoming for everyone and you will feel respected, safe and important.

As a Board we welcome new enrolments for 2011 and look forward to partnering with future students and their parents in this important stage of education, and aim to develop and equip each individual to excel not only at OIS but at high school and beyond.
   
From the Principal

At Oamaru Intermediate we seek to develop the full potential of each student, with an emphasis on building self-confidence and self-esteem. We aim to instill values through character education and promoting key competencies in social and academic areas. Our mission is to prepare students to be active participants, who will contribute to their community.

 We have a teaching and learning culture which is totally focused on meeting the developmental needs of young adolescents. We provide quality learning experiences for our pupils and place significant emphasis and resources on developing their competency in Literacy and Numeracy. Students learn in a supportive, respectful environment as recognised in our last Education Review Office Report. Please contact me if you would like further information about our school.
